The Frame Inside the Pages:

A 6-week course on the structure of stories

At their core, all great stories have a surprisingly similar foundation. This home-study course will reveal the common structures hidden in our favorite stories. Each week of this 6-week course, you’ll explore a story-structure topic in-depth, examine its use in stories of your choice, and have the option to participate in online discussions with your classmates. It’s perfect for writers who are just starting out, those who want to try a new style or genre, those planning to take part in National Novel Writing Month, or anyone who’s simply curious about what makes their favorite stories tick.

This is not a webinar but a workshop where materials are provided by email, and a group discussion by phone.

And if you’re planning to apply for the 2021 Nevada SCBWI Mentor Program, this course will help you analyze effective elements of books in your genre and prepare you to apply those ideas to an intensive revision of your own work.

FEE: SCBWI members pay just $60 for the full 6-week course or $20 each for any single week(s) of their choice. This is a member-only event. For single events, please register under the individual event. This is the registration for the whole series.

So dust off that reading list you’ve been compiling all summer and join us this October for a deep dive into the structure of stories!
