Date(s) - 06/16/2018
10:45 am - 12:00 pm

Patricia Nelson from the Marsal Lyon Literary Agency will present a webinar on Zoom.

Title: Capturing the YA and MG Voice
Agents and editors often say that they’re looking to “fall in love with the voice” when they’re considering a project. But what does that even mean? What is voice, and how can you make yours stronger? In this session we will focus specifically on honing a voice that jumps off the page for the competitive young adult and middle grade markets.
Patricia Nelson has been a literary agent with Marsal Lyon Literary Agency since 2014, representing young adult, middle grade, and select adult fiction. Patricia’s clients include bestselling and award-winning authors; recent sales include books placed with HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, Bloomsbury, and St. Martin’s Press, among others. Patricia holds a bachelor’s degree from the College of William and Mary, a master’s degree in English Literature from the University of Southern California and a master’s degree in Gender Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to joining Marsal Lyon, she spent several years teaching writing at the college level, and she currently serves as faculty for the certificate program in Children’s Book Writing & Illustration at UC-San Diego.
