The 2021 NV Mentorship program is a hybrid program that will launch by Zoom April 1, 2021 and culminate at St. Mary’s Art Center in person September 17-19, 2021 where all the mentors, mentees, and three agents will gather for a memorable finale.

The program is open to all writers including picture book writer-illustrators regardless of where you live.

Registration ENDS January 31, 2021.

We are changing our program to reduce the number of acceptances this year to only 12 mentees to create an intimate experience on Zoom and for the fall retreat. We will have 3 agents present at the finale for the 12 mentees for an opportunity to really pitch and receive feedback from agents during the final weekend. That is a 4-to-1 ratio of participants to agents and a 2-to-1 ratio for mentors.

Registration for the serious applicant is $50. If you are not selected, you will receive a written critique of your manuscript. You must have a completed manuscript of under 85,000 words. If you are selected, your $50 will be credited for the cost of the program, which is $1350.

The fee of $1350 includes all fees for the program, including the weekend retreat in Virginia City, NV, that is scheduled for Sept 17-19, 2021. If Covid persists and we can not have an in-person portion, we will have agent meetings via Zoom, and the cost of room and board will be refunded. All mentees are required to attend the final event.

The initial Zoom kickoff will be for all mentees and their mentors. The mentees will schedule 1-1 meeting with their mentors throughout the 6-month program. Each mentor will set their own schedule, and depending on the mentor, the program will differ. However, we will also have one group workshop presented by a mentor each month, and we will also have one mentee only group Zoom meeting each month as well to keep you motivated.
